A beginner-friendly rope workshop exploring rope as a language for communication, presence, and connection — with yourself and with others. Rope 101 and 102 in a single afternoon, one ticket. This workshop is entirely SELF-TIED. You do not need a partner, and nobody ties anybody else. Everything you learn, you learn on your own body. Rope is supplied for the class, and rope is also available to buy if you want to take the practice home. No experience is needed. Complete beginners are genuinely welcome. We open in circle — your name, your experience with rope if you have any, and what draws you here. Rope is relational from the first minute, not technical. From there: where shibari comes from, and the movement from rope as restraint to rope as expression to rope as communication. How intention shapes what rope feels like, and negotiation as an ongoing conversation rather than a box you tick once. Safety as communication — nervous system awareness, circulation and compression, aftercare, rope types and lengths, and the anatomy of a rope. Then rope in your hands. Handling, the daisy chain, connecting two ends. Friction and tension, and the Quadrant System that becomes the grammar for everything after it. Your first tie is the Summerville bowline, taught as that system's first application rather than a shape to copy — plus what a single column opens up and the three core variables: speed, tightness, and the space in between. In the second half, forward and reverse tension, stacking, dressing your rope, and a working vocabulary of frictions. Every in-person attendee also gets access to our online course and app, so the afternoon does not end when you leave the room. Wear something you can move and stretch in, and that you do not mind rope pressing against. Bring water and a snack. Fully clothed. Nonsexual. A sober space, in a private venue. Open to everyone — no membership or prior coursework required. If this is your first time with Dark Tantra Temple, it is a good door to come in through. Address released after purchase.
